Charges of felony driving while intoxicated (DWI) and two counts of manslaughter await a Gerald woman when she recovers from injuries sustained in a fatal two-vehicle accident last Tuesday.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report, a 1998 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck driven by Lori J. Kinney, 45, of Gerald, was westbound on the Interstate 44 outer road 1.2 miles west of Route AH near St. Clair. Heading westbound on the same road was a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Robert D. Andrews, 62, of St. Peters.

Kinney’s vehicle crossed the center line and struck Andrew’s motorcycle head on at 11:08 p.m., on Tuesday, June 17. Andrews was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel while his passenger Tammy L. Brockmeier, 45, of Union was flown by Air Evac helicopter to St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur. She was pronounced dead about an hour after the accident at the hospital.

Kinney was also airlifted by Arch helicopter to St. John’s with moderate injuries according to the report. Both vehicles were totaled and Kinney was not wearing her seatbelt as was stated in the accident report.

As of 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 24, Kinney was listed in satisfactory condition at the hospital. This was according to Diane Baylong, who works in Public Relations at the hospital.

A patrol arrest report stated that Kinney was charged at 1:05 a.m, on Wednesday, June 19, with two counts of manslaughter and a felony DWI.
