For Owensville’s Lions Club, you couldn’t have asked for better weather for their annual golf tournament that is one of their biggest fund-raisers throughout the year.

According to Debbie Bennett from the Lions Club, the money made from the tournament goes to fund many things for the students and citizens of Owensville. Some of those include the Lions Scholarship Fund, Sportsmanship Awards, Helping Hands and the yearly Christmas Lights Contest.

There were a total 19 teams of golfers in the tournament that were split into Championship, “A” and “B” flights.

Winning the championship flight was the trio of Kevin Gooch, Chris Gooch and Stacy Abel. Taking second was the team of Tom Bush, Jesse Loeb and Terry Harris while Joe Butler Sr., Phil Oldfather and B. Mullen placed third in the championship flight.

Taking the championship in the “A” flight was the team of Chris Lenauer, Caleb Lenauer and Bruce Paneitz. Placing second was the trio of Jeff Mesger, Stuart Hoffmann and Dave York. Rounding out the top three teams in the “A” flight was the team of Jim Diestelkamp, Brad Nelson and Bill Campbell.

Earning the championship in the “B” flight was the team of Don Warden, Tom Watson and Jeff B. Taking second in the “B” flight was Troy Hudnall and family while the trio of Bill Grote, Lya Grote and Ron West placed third in the “B” flight.

Contest winners included Brad Nelson in the Longest Drive while Tom Bush had the Longest Drive amongst the senior competitors. Getting closest to the pin on the eighth hole at OGC was Bill Campbell while Ron West logged the longest putt of the tournament.
