The German Waterloo Band performed last weekend at the Community Theatre. An audience of almost 100 people were on hand to enjoy the band’s authentic German music. The four member band play a variety of instruments. The more traditional saxophone, guitar and accordion were joined by more ethnic instruments such as the alp horns, cow bells, a saw  and a stomp fiddle.Image

Audience participation is a big part of this group’s success and Saturday night was no exception. The audience sang along, clapped, whistled and stomped as the band shook the rafters with all the old German favorites for more than two hours.

After the show, the audience had an opportunity to meet the band members and purchase CDs containing more of that great German sound.
Sponsored by the Arts Council, a wide variety of musical acts have been appearing at the old theater, as well as a popular variety show, Saturday Nite Live-Owensville” which is on hiatus through the summer.

The German Waterloo Band performs year long at venues across the country and have performed for three American presidents.

The next event for the theater will occur on July 16 when the Gypsy Theatre Company will present a Victorian suspense murder mystery, “Ravenscroft.”
The show is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and advance ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
