Thanks to the quick response of Gerald emergency personnel and workers at Gerald Nursing and Rehab, damage from an overheated electrical outlet was contained to one wall of a residential room.Minor damage was sustained to a wall in a resident’s room due to a faulty electrical outlet at Gerald Nursing and Rehab Tuesday morning.
“It was an overheated electrical outlet that caused the smoke to appear in the building,” Gerald-Rosebud Fire Department First Assistant Chief Orlan Schulte said. “The damage was contained to one wall in a resident’s room and nobody inside was hurt.”
Only a small number of residents had to be temporarily moved to other rooms in the building while firefighters from the Gerald-Rosebud Fire Department made sure that residents would be in no further danger from the electrical problem in the room.
Personnel from the Gerald Area Ambulance District and Gerald Police Department also responded to the scene to assist the GRFD as necessary.
