Now that we’re into spring, the Washington Missourian recently released their All-Area teams for basketball and wrestling.

Both Owensville and Hermann were well represented on their respective All-Area basketball teams.

Jake Witthaus’ Hermann Bearcats had four players named to their respective teams.

Nolan Brune was named to the All-Area First Team along with Adam Rickman (Borgia), Adyn Kleinheider (Washington), Kieran Wors (Union) and Brody Denbow (Borgia).

Bearcat post player Daeden Hopkins was named to the All-Area Second Team alongside Ozzie Smith (Union), Tate Gruver (St. James), Chris Glaser (Sullivan) and Andrew Noelke (New Haven).

Owensville freshman Chase Crosby and Hermann shooting guard John Hiatt were selected to the All-Area Third Team in addition to Jace Stroup (Crosspoint), Aiden Boone (St. James) and Carter Short (St. Clair).

Dutchmen senior Layne Evans and Hermann’s Coulter Schwartze both earned All-Area Honorable Mention status.

Brune was second in Player of the Year voting to Rickman while Witthaus was also second in Coach of the Year voting behind Neier.

On the girl’s side of the hardwood, Dutchgirl senior Emma Daniels was a unanimous selection to the All-Area First Team along with Union’s Sophia Helling.

Hermann’s Ava Hughes was also an All-Area First Team nod along with Emily Recker (St. James) and Elizabeth Reed (Washington).

Dutchgirl junior guard Ali Daniels was one of six selections to the All-Area Second Team.

Joining her as second-team selections were Kendall Costoplos (St. James), Alayna Lagemann (New Haven), Cierra Murrell (Washington), Lydia Kemnitzer (St. James) and Ava Sykes (Union).

Hermann 3-point shooting threat Kennedie Witthaus was named to the All-Area Third Team along with Dutchgirl junior guard Camryn Caldwell, Aubri Meyer (New Haven) and Taylor Scheer (Borgia).

Emma Daniels was named the Player of the Year while Dutchgirl head coach John VanLeer was selected Coach of the Year in the area.

On the wrestling mats, Owensville’s Dutchmen and Dutchgirls had several All-Area selections.

Micah Duncan and Steven Buddemeyer earned second-team nods at 113 and 126 pounds respectively.

Kyle Blair (157) and Kaleb Wells (165) earned All-Area Third Team selections while Landon Kramme was an All-Area Second Team nod at 175 pounds.

Hayden Shoemaker rounded out the Dutchmen contingency of All-Area wrestlers with a second-team selection at 285 pounds.

Zach Bollmann’s Dutchgirls had four All-Area first team selections in Jenna Vandegriffe (110), Liz Adams (115), Bailee Dare (170) and Madison Lewis (190).

Payton Busenhart earned an All-Area Second Team nod at 105 pounds while Lily Barker was a third-team selection at 130 pounds.

Freshman Rylee Dare was a second-team selection at 155 pounds.
