Bobby E. Clemons, 75, a veteran of the Vietnam War and resident of Clinton, formerly of Owensville, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

He was born March 25, 1949, to Loyd and Fay (Medley) Clemons.

He graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School before being drafted by the U.S. Army in 1969. As a private first class for the Army, Bob saw action in Vietnam as a gunner and was recognized for his honorable service with National Defense and Vietnam Service Medals. Bob didn’t speak much about his time in Vietnam or the Army, but was proud to have served and was a member of the Patriot Guard.

After serving Bob began his 40 year career with Bull Moose Tube Company as a truck driver, retiring in 2011. On March 2, 1974, he married Sharon Reid and settled in Gerald, where they lived for 27 years. A life-long Harley Davidson motorcycle lover, Bob rode his many bikes any chance he could. He also enjoyed riding side-by-sides, tinkering in his shed, rebuilding cars, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He loved to tease, crack jokes and had a tremendous sense of humor. His witty personality and laughter will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by parents, Loyd and Fay; and sibling, Betty Docksteiner and husband Alan.

He is survived by wife, Sharon; sons, Nathan Clemons and wife Jo Ellen and Grant Clemons and wife Cheryl all of Marshfield; daughter, Bobbi Jo Striegel and husband Mark of Blue Springs; grandchildren, Rileigh Clemons, Caleb Clemons, Amber Clemons, Calli Clemons, Ty Clemons, Brody Striegel and Ethan Striegel; sister, Sue Johnson and husband Richard of Gerald; brothers, Tom Clemons and with Pauline of Ellington, and Darryl Clemons and wife Stella of Owensville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 1, at Bradley and Hadley Funeral Home in Clinton. A military honors and committal service took place at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville with Patriot Guard provided by Patriot Guard Riders of Mid-Missouri.

Memorials suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project.
