HERMANN — A woman who has been in jail for about four years awaiting her day in court on a murder charge has been given a firm court date.
Christine Elizabeth Weber of Hermann, charged in the 2020 death of her live-in boyfriend, was in court Friday morning in her latest effort to get a trial date. The issue reportedly was taken up in the chambers of 20th Circuit Presiding Judge Craig Hellmann during Friday’s Law Day activity in the Gasconade County courthouse.
Gasconade County Circuit Clerk & Recorder of Deeds Jennifer Schneider said no public announcement was made during court proceeding regarding the dates of a pre-trial conference and the trial itself.
According to postings on Missouri Case.net, a three-day trial has been set for Monday, Sept. 30, and Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 1 and 2.
Weber earlier filed a petition for a speedy trial. And, Gasconade County Prosecuting Attorney Mary E. Weston’s petition for a mental examination of Weber has been approved.
According to filings posted on Case.net, it’s believed Weber will be basing her defense against the first-degree murder and armed criminal action charges on the battered spouse syndrome.
