Bags will be flying during the final day of the 62nd Gasconade County Threshers Association (GCTA) Steam Engine and Antique Tractor Show this weekend at Rosebud Community Park.

That is because a new event for 2024 will be a Cornhole Tournament on Sunday, July 21 starting at noon with sign-ups and warm up starting at 11 a.m.

Kicking the show off on Friday, July 19 will be tractor games at 5 p.m., consisting of a barrel race, corn plant, basketball shoot, slow race, draw bar tap, balloon pop and potato plant.

In the corn plant, five coffee cans are placed and drivers are given 10 washers to drop into the cans.

While looking to drop two washers into each of the five cans on the way up and back through the course, drivers will receive time penalties for a missed washer, driving over a can and for not going around the cone at the halfway point of the course.

During the barrel race, a plastic barrel will start on the ground and drivers will have to use the front of their tractor to roll the barrel across the finish line in the fastest possible time.

Basketball shoot participants will start with two basketballs that they will throw at a barrel hoping to make one or both shots in order to get a time.

Draw bar tap participants will see a ball placed on a cone. Then they will drive their tractor in reverse using their draw bar to touch the cone without knocking the ball off before going forward back towards the start/finish line.

Drivers will then look to pop five balloons in a marked off area with their tractor tires in the fastest possible time. Time will not stop until after all of the balloons are popped and the tractor has crossed the finish line.

Given three potatoes for the potato plant, drivers will throw potatoes at a line marked on the ground. Each potato will be measured from their landing spot to the marked line with the closest combined measurement determining a winner.

Friday action will be capped by a Lawn Mower Fun Pull at 6 p.m., down on the lower field.

Musical entertainment on Friday night will be provided by Borderline from 7:30 p.m., until 10:30 p.m.

Saturday action will kick off with a cast-iron skillet throwing for all ages beginning at 10:15 a.m., followed by a performance by the Ozark Spirit Cloggers at 11 a.m.

High noon will not only cue the blowing of whistles from steam engines but also a parade of all of the tractors and steam engines on the grounds.

An antique tractor pull for tractors with steel and rubber tires will follow the parade on the lower field.

While tractors are pulling on the lower field, the Finley River Boys will be providing musical entertainment at 3:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m., in the upper area of the park.

Hailing from southwest Missouri, the Finley River Boys will also be performing in August at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia.

Saturday night at 7 p.m., will see people of all ages and strengths competing in the annual bale toss with bales likely flying through the air over a bar on the baseball field in front of the grandstand.

Capping the day Saturday will be music by Touch of Country from 7:30 p.m., until 10 p.m.

In addition to the aforementioned cornhole tournament, Sunday activities will begin with a church service by Pastor Ron Koppelmann Jr., at 8 a.m., followed at 10 a.m., by an adult pedal tractor pull.

Put on by the Gasconade Timing Association (GTA), the annual car show will run from 10 a.m., until 2 p.m., with judging beginning at noon.

A second parade and an awards presentation will take place at noon Sunday before the weekend festivities are capped at 2 p.m., by a kiddie pedal tractor pull for children ages 3-10.

With current high temperatures only forecasted to reach 80 degrees, that will be a welcome break for die hard show goers who have contended with 90-100 degree heat in years past.

For those competitive-minded folk, there will be plenty of events to satisfy your cravings.

Competition highlights on Saturday begin with a cast iron skillet throwing contest for ladies beginning at 10:15 a.m.

Following the Saturday parade of tractors and steam engines, a tractor pull involving multiple weight classes will take place at the lower field.

After entertainment by the Baker Family Band out of south central Missouri,

Demonstrations of sawing lumber and threshing grain will lead to the traditionally popular bale toss at 7 p.m., Saturday night in front of the grandstand.

Sunday activities for the sports enthusiasts will include an adult pedal tractor pull at 10 a.m., in the morning.

A pony pull and kids pedal tractor pull will wind down the 62nd Threshers show in Rosebud.
