Hermann board confirms several reappointments to city advisory committees; sets pool fees, hires guards

HERMANN — Confirmation was given last week by the Hermann Board of Aldermen to several reappointments of advisory panel members by Mayor Bruce Cox.

Winning another term on their respective boards were City Administrator Patricia Heaney and Public Works Director Jesse Geltz to the Municipal Gas Commission of East Central Missouri; businessmen Danny Baumstark and Mark Volmer to the Utility Advisory Board (UAB); and Kenny Briscoe, Wendy Noelke and Lindsay Engemann to the Parks & Recreation Board.

Also winning aldermanic approval at the April 22 session were this year’s swimming pool fee schedule and the hiring of lifeguards for the upcoming summer pool season. This summer’s prices are a $4 daily admission with children 2 and younger free; an individual season pass will cost $50; a Summer School individual pass will cost $40; a family pass (4 members) will cost $100 with additional family members covered by a $10-per-person fee.

Cost of a pool party will be $150 for two hours, $200 for three hours. Pool parties are held on Fridays after the pool closes at 7 p.m. Pool hours are 12:30 to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday and from 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Swimming lessons will be held at the pool again this summer. Four sessions are scheduled: Session 1 June 3-13; Sesson 2 June 17-27; Session 3 July 8-18; Session 4 July 22-Aug.1.

Swimming lessons will be from 11 a.m to noon or from 7 to 8 p.m. Fridays will the make-up day.

The crew of lifeguards whose hiring was approved include Cole Traub, Holly Heldt, Ayden Elder, Morgan Fredrick, Aerie Holified, Cecilia Shepard and Conner Coffey.

City Clerk Corey Orr told aldermen that even with this group of lifeguards, more will be needed during the swimming season.

The BOA also approved the low bid from Play Design Scapes for $16,500 for three water fountains with water bottle fillers and pet stations. Play Design Scapes of Elk Grove Village, Ill., was one of three companies bidding to provide the water stations. The others were Global Industrial of Port Washington, N.Y., for $19,261, and Plumbing Supply of Chico, Calif.,at a cost of $21,716.s

Also approved by the BOA last Monday night was a bid from Graybar for $9,426 for hardware and conductor wire for the Electric Department.
