Jerry Michael Wilson, 78, of Hermann, passed away at his home May 31, 2024, surrounded by family members.

He was born Oct. 8, 1945, to Major Robert and Hope (Hill) Wilson in Dallas, Texas.

Jerry attended school in Valdosta, Ga., St. Louis, and Gulfport, Miss., before graduating from Harrison Central High School in 1964. He earned a scholarship to attend Perkinston Junior College in Perkinston, Miss., and attended University of Mississippi in Oxford, Miss. earning a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy in 1969.

Jerry spent his professional career as a pharmacist in Mississippi and Missouri, working in retail pharmacy and home health care in Clarksdale, Gulfport, Vicksburg and Jackson, Miss., and finally at the VA hospital in Kansas City where he loved working directly with our country’s wounded veterans. After 45 years, Jerry retired and he relocated to Hermann.

He also worked with other pharmacists to organize the Mississippi Association of Recovering Pharmacists and served as the charter president from 1987–89. He worked for years through MARP to assist men and women in the pharmacy profession who struggled with addiction.

Jerry was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Hope; daughter, Trisha; and sister, Jan (Scruggs).

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Peggy; sons Christopher Wilson (Kristie), of Holts Summit, Mark Wilson (Angie) of Waynesville, and John Wilson (Angela) of Biloxi, Miss.; five grandchildren; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 15, from 9–11 a.m. at Toedtmann and Grosse Funeral Home in Hermann, with funeral services following at 11 a.m.
