John Ralph Walter, 82, of Owensville, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Washington with his family by his side.
He was born Feb. 6, 1942, to John Ross and Eddith (Sewell) Walter in St. James.
He was united in marriage to Carla Seifert, April 8, 1978, in Owensville.
John proudly served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps for four years of active duty and two years in the reserves.
He loved restoring old cars and pickup trucks and mowing grass, especially for Owensville Parks Department where he worked for 20 years after working at Emhart for over 20 years.
He was preceded in death by parents, John and Eddith; and brother, William Walter.
He is survived by loving wife, Carla of 46 years; children, John Darren Walter and wife Maria of Fairview, Ore., Kenda Bond and husband James of Columbia, Kim Vincent of Valparaiso, Ind., and Jerry Dwayne Bogue of Lowell, Ind.; sisters, Norma Spurgeon of Owensville and Betty Gieck and husband Boyd of Belle; and eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 2, at 11 a.m. at Countryside Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m.
