First Baptist Church concluded a well-attended vacation Bible school this past Friday with a water festival courtesy of the Owensville Fire Department. Firemen connected their rescue pumper to a city hydrant for the nearly 90 participants. As a group collectively, the children attending the “Visit Breaker Rock Beach” programs throughout the week raised $1,651.35 through the collection plate for a “Shoe-box Christmas” mission “Shoes That Grow.” The effort will provided 82 pairs of new shoes which will be packaged with personal care supplies for those in need. The mission, said church organizers, has brought the message of Jesus to more than 500 people through previous campaign donations of new shoes and care items.
