VIENNA — Residents and visitors alike will once again congregate at the Maries County Fairgrounds for this year’s fair, which will begin Thursday night.
The 78th Annual Maries County Fair, dubbed “Rollin’ on the River,” will see its gates open at 4 p.m. on Thursday. The opening night pageant slate, which begins at 5 p.m., includes Little Mr. & Miss Maries County, Maries County Fair Princess and Maries County Fair Queen.
The petting zoo will also open at 5 p.m. on Thursday. Carnival rides will begin at 5:30 and continue until 10:30 that night.
Two events begin at 7 p.m. The rabbit and poultry show will happen in the agriculture barn. A rodeo will take place in the arena. Missouri band Grant Wright & the Hackamores will perform following the rodeo.
Friday’s events get to an early start at 8 a.m. with the youth livestock show in the agriculture barn. Regular fair festivities will open to the public at 4 p.m.
The petting zoo will open first at 5 p.m. followed again by the carnival rides at 5:30. The awards from the morning’s livestock show and the livestock sale will take place at 6 p.m.
Music will begin at 7:30 p.m. with a performance by The Hensley Boys from Iberia. They will play again at the beer garden following the main performance.
This year’s headliner is country performer Easton Corbin from Florida. His hit singles include A Little More Country Than That and Roll With It.
Saturday’s activities will begin in town at 11 a.m. with the annual fair parade. The gates to the fairground open at 1 p.m. along with the petting zoo and carnival rides, which will operate until 4:30 p.m. before resuming at 5:30 p.m. after the break.
Registration for the Fourth Annual Cornhole Tournament begins at 1 p.m. with cash prizes for participants in the competitive division. The tournament starts at 2 p.m. along with a slate of events for kids.
Saturday’s main event is the demolition derby, which will begin at 7 p.m. at the arena.
Saturday will also feature two musical performances. Broken Arrow Band will play at 4 p.m. and Shawneetown Band will play following the derby.
