Petula June “Petey” Cargill, 54, Leslie, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 25, 2024, at her home.

She was born July 15, 1969, to John and Edna (Sisco) Bridges at the Bitburg Air Force Base in Germany.

Petey’s early years were marked by the adventure of living in various locations due to her family’s military background. In 1981, her family settled in Rolla, where she graduated from Rolla High School in 1987.

Petey’s first marriage was brief, it blessed her with three wonderful children. She made a lasting impact as a dedicated pharmacy technician. It was while working at Walmart in Owensville, that Petey met Bret Cargill. The couple married July 29, 2008.

She was preceded in death by parents, John and Edna; and granddaughter, Maya Douglas.

Petey is survived by husband, Bret; children, Tiffany Douglas and significant other Miranda Weible, Mary Douglas and husband Thomas Long, and Michael Douglas all of Rolla, and Jacob Cargill and wife Dayna of Anderson AF Base Guam; nine grandchildren; and sisters, Evelyn “Bunny” McGowan and husband Steve of Versailles, JoAnn Light of Rolla, Johnnie “Winnie” Parker and husband Charlie of St. James, and twin, Valerie Potter of Rolla.

A memorial graveside service was held Monday, June 3, at the Edgar Springs Cemetery in Edgar Springs, with Pastor Harold Harrison officiating. Cremation arrangements have taken place.

Memorials suggested to the American Alzheimer’s Association.

Arrangements are under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Sullivan.
