Sharon Kay Holterman, 67, Freeburg, passed from this life Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Nov. 19, 1956, to the late Leo L. and Mary Catherine “Dude” (Kirsch) Rotter in Jefferson City.

Sharon was married Richard Lee Holterman May 24, 1980, in Bonnots Mill.

She was baptized early in life and was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg.

Sharon will always be remembered as the life of the party, who enjoyed gambling, dominos, bingo, and especially spending time with her friends and family.

During her working life, she was a packer for Scholastic in Jefferson City, an accountant for Fronter Insurance in Jefferson City and the CFO of her and her late husband’s logging company, Holterman Logging in Westphalia for 51 years. In addition, Sharon also farmed and raised cattle alongside her late husband, Richard, on their family farm. 

She was preceded in death by husband, Richard; parents, Leo and Mary; brother, James Leo “Jim” Rotter; sister and brothers-in-law, Catherine Ann (Rotter) Porting, Arthur “Archie Bunker” Porting and Roger Holterman.

Sharon is survived by sisters, Ruthie Bowen and husband John and Helen Libbert and husband Larry, all of Bonnots Mill; sisters-in-law, Karen Rotter of Ashland and Darlene Holterman of Morrison; nephews and nieces; and relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9 until 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, in Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg followed by a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following with Rev. William D. Debo officiating.

Interment will be in Holy Family Cemetery. Immediately following,  the family extends an invitation to all in attendance to share a meal with them at the American Legion Hall in Freeburg.

Memorial contributions suggested to “Father Debo’s Holiday Decorations Fund” for Holy Family Parish.
