Alton James Koch, Sr., 66, Piedmont formerly of Meta, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024, at his home.
He was born Dec. 11, 1957, to the late Willard and Marguerite (Barden) Koch in San Diego, Calif.
He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from March 5, 1975, until his honorable discharge July 1, 1977.
Alton had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He shared his love for hunting with others by becoming a hunter’s education instructor. He enjoyed volunteering at Wonderland Camp and was a past member of the Jefferson City Jaycees.
Alton was preceded in death by parents, Willard and Marguerite; and sister-in-law, Vangie Koch.
He is survived by children, Alton Koch Jr. of St. Elizabeth, April Schubert and husband Gabe of Meta and Aaron Koch and wife Kristina of Linn; grandchildren, Bethany, Donnie, Kaytlin, Kayla, Kaleb, Vidella and Ryann; great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Everleigh; brothers, Bill Koch and wife Bonnie and Tim Koch; sister, Cheryl Gross and husband Joe; and numerous family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., (today) Wednesday, July 17, followed by a luncheon at First Baptist Church of St. Elizabeth.
