Blue Oval car show returns to Hermann this weekend

HERMANN – There will be Fords of all types on display this weekend as the Midwest Blue Oval Club returns to Hermann for its rally and car show in downtown Hermann.

Set for Friday and Saturday, cars, trucks and maybe even some tractors bearing the Ford logo will be lining 4th Street from Market to Gutenberg and Schiller Street from 4th to 1st streets.

The event, which has raised funds for local charities in past years, was given the green light earlier by the Hermann Board of Aldermen when it approved an amendment Special Event Application filed by the car club.

Also on the classic-car front is the 3rd Annual River City Cruise & Car Show set for Saturday, Sept. 7. Members of the River City Cruisers Car Club will be displaying their rides on 4th Street from Market to Schiller that day, thanks to BOA approval of Special Event Application by the organization.

A third Special Event Application that won approval was filed by Hermann Area District Hospital for its 13th Annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving weekend. Set for Thursday, Nov. 28, the 5K run and walk will take place at Hermann Middle School, Hermann High School and on various city streets.

Aldermen also approved a Festival Event Application filed by the Gasconade/Osage Treatment Court Alumni for a barbecue burger and bratwurst sale Saturday, Oct. 19, on the parking lot of Hermann Lumber Company on Highway 19 (Market Street).

The board at its first regular session of the month also:

• Ratified a manufacturing liquor license for Don Gosen at Copper Mule Distillery.

• Approved a Vehicle For Hire license renewal sought by the Dierberg Educational Foundation to operate horse-drawn carriage rides downtown during the holidays.

• Approved the low bid of $8,359 from Anixter for materials for the city’s Electric Division of the Public Works Department.

• Approved the low bid of $8,603 from Marco for a new copier for the Police Department.

• Approved a pair of Caterer’s Permit applications, one from Adam Puchta Winery to sell products at the Hermann Area District Hospital Auxiliary Concert at the Amphitheater on Sept. 7 and another sought by Old Vine Kitchen Emporium to sell items at the Hermann Fall Festival event at the Amphitheater on Sept. 28.
