Convicted child rapist charged with statutory rape

LINN — Christopher G. Fisher, 50, currently incarcerated in the Farmington Correctional Center, was charged in Osage County on July 23 with first-degree statutory rape or attempted statutory rape of a victim less than 14 years of age. The crime allegedly took place in late 2019 or early 2020 between Linn and Chamois while Fisher was living with the victim’s family.

Sheriff Mike Bonham said he will always maintain a zero-tolerance policy in situations like this.  “Whenever there are crimes against children, we’re going to react with speed and accuracy,” he added.

Cpl. Dennis Sutton noted in his probable cause statement that he was told on March 26 that a juvenile had disclosed a sexual assault and was at the Osage County Sheriff’s Office to make a statement.

After speaking with both the minor victim and the victim’s mother, Sutton scheduled a forensic interview for April 1 with a trained juvenile forensic interviewer.

The victim said the assault occurred while on a car ride with Fisher. She said on the way home, Fisher took a county road and stopped the vehicle. He forced her to get in the back, where he allegedly raped her. The victim said she attempted to push the defendant off of her several times.

The juvenile said that once Fisher stopped, she returned to the front seat while he was doing something in the trunk and that he told her not to say anything to anyone.

Sutton interviewed Fisher on April 14, during which he admitted to living with the victim’s family but denied the allegations. Fisher told Sutton he only lived with the victim for one to two weeks and was never alone with her. He denied taking her on any rides, noting he did not have a vehicle at the time he lived with the victim.

After speaking with Fisher, Sutton conducted follow-up interviews with the victim’s mother and another individual with whom Fisher later lived. The victim’s mother said Fisher lived with her family for one to two months and that he had multiple vehicles while living there. She said during the time in question, he had a white passenger car.

The other individual with whom Fisher later lived said Fisher had resided with the victim’s family for a couple of months before moving in with her at the request of the victim’s father. She said Fisher had a passenger car when he lived with her. Further, she did not know if the victim had ever been alone with Fisher but said the child’s father did not like the way Fisher looked at her mother.

Fisher’s bond was set at $50,000 and specified no contact with the victim; however, he is currently serving two consecutive five-year sentences at the Farmington Correctional Center for second-degree statutory rape and second-degree statutory sodomy, to which he pleaded guilty on May 1, 2019. In addition to these charges, Fisher has an extensive criminal history, including car theft, passing bad checks, stealing, driving while revoked/suspended, and drug possession.

No court date has been set at this time.
