Area motorists must use the “flood route” detours to enter into downtown Hermann on Highway 19 as the Frene Creek bridge has been removed and a replacement is being constructed this summer. A Missouri Department of Transportation signed detour has through traffic going around town using Route Z and 100 back into town and onto the Bond Bridge crossing the Missouri River. Local traffic is following routes used during peak high-water periods when Frene Creek backs up from the Missouri River, flooding the bridge approach on Market Street/Highway 19. Don Schnieders Excavating Company, Inc., has the $1,259,505.35 contract.
