Elizabeth Marie “Liz” Stratman, 94, Freeburg, passed away Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City.
She was born Sept. 2, 1929, to the late Henry John and Gertrude Ann (Richter) Struemph in Freeburg.
She was united in marriage to Herbert Henry “Herb” Stratman May 30, 1950, in Freeburg.
Elizabeth worked as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell, a screener for Quaker Windows and a cook at the Holy Family Catholic School.
She was preceded in death by husband, Herb; parents, Henry and Gertrude; granddaughter, Kristen Stratman; and siblings, John “Honse” Struemph, Marie Ortbals, Loretta Klein, James “Jim” Struemph, Bernard “Bud” Struemph, Emil Struemph, Cecilia Schmitz, Theresa Buschman and Catherine Wegman.
Elizabeth is survived by sons, Danny Stratman and wife Sherri of Freeburg and Kenny Stratman of Vichy; daughters, Karen Beck and husband Keith and Lisa Bexten and husband Dennis, all of Freeburg, Becky Stratman of Overland Park, Kan.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Janet Struemph of Nevada.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Aug. 30, in the Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg with Father William Debo officiating.
Interment was in the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Freeburg.
Arrangements entrusted to Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna.
