Four years in Fulton.

2024 Owensville High School (OHS) graduate Ethan Harris has that to look forward to after signing his letter of intent to continue his athletic and academic pursuits as a member of the Westminster College (WC) Blue Jay track team in Fulton.

During his senior season as a member of the OHS track team, Harris helped the Dutchmen to a pair of All-Four Rivers Conference (FRC) performances in the varsity boys 4x400-meter and 4x800m relays.

Starting the annual FRC track meet at Hermann on the track, Harris along with Felix Guerrero, Drake Dietrich and Zach Holtmeyer topped the field in the varsity boys 4x800m relay with a season-best time of 8:38.59, during last spring’s annual FRC meet at Bearcat Memorial Stadium on the Hermann High School campus.

The same quartet just missed advancing to sectionals following their fifth-place time of 8:48.67 during the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 3, District 3 track meet held at Montgomery County High School in Montgomery City.

In addition to their FRC title in the 4x800m relay, the Dutchmen 4x400m relay team of Chase Crosby, Cody Lenauer, Harris and Guerrero earned All-FRC Second Team honors with a time of 3:36.59.

That was also their fastest time of the season.

Johannes Berg, Crosby, Harris and Guerrero advanced to sectionals following a fourth-place time of 3:38.51 at the end of the district meet held in Montgomery City.

Over Mother’s Day weekend in Paris, the same OHS quartet from districts saw their season end during one of four MSHSAA Class 3 Sectional track meets at Paris High School following an eighth-place time of 3:42.15 in the boys 4x400m relay.

Individually, Harris also competed in both the 110m and 300m hurdles for Dutchmen track.

His best finish in the 110m hurdles came at the Cuba Relays with a fifth-place time of 19.19.

300m hurdle action saw Harris post a winning time of 45.90 also at the Cuba Relays.

Inserted into the boys 4x200m relay at districts, the team of Keontrae Gates, Jordan Bialczyk, Connor Wellman and Harris just missed advancing to sectionals after a fifth-place time of 1:34.45.

Also competing in cross country during his senior year, Harris’ best finish came at the Owensville Invitational with a 24th-place time of 20:10.8.

His fastest time as a senior was in the Missouri Southern Stampede at Joplin with a 99th-place time of 18:52.0.

Harris helped the Dutchmen 4x400m relay team as a junior place third in the state.

Starting their road to Jefferson City at the annual FRC meet, the team of Tanner Meyer, Layne Evans, Guerrero and Harris earned All-FRC Second Team honors with a time of 3:42.02.

Later in May at districts, the Dutchmen 4x400m relay team of Bryce Payne, Gabe Soest, Meyer and Harris ended the meet winning a district title in a time of 3:32.70.

Nearly adding another district title to his long list of accomplishments as a junior, Harris helped the Dutchmen 4x800m relay team to a second-place time of 9:14.47.

Competing along with Harris were Lucas Morgan, Evans and Guerrero.

In the spring of 2022 as a sophomore, Harris made his impact felt at the junior-varsity level.

In the JV boys 4x400m relay, Harris teamed up with Connor Fisher, Xavier Bayless and Timothy Winterbauer to win a FRC title with a winning time of 4:13.60.

Harris also earned FRC silver in the JV boys 4x800m relay helping teammates Noah Holtmeyer, Kyle Bollman and Hunter Lang to a second-place time of 10:30.54.

During his sophomore season of cross country, Harris earned All-FRC honors in the JV boys race with a second-place time of 20:44.8.

Earning a spot on to the varsity squad at districts, Harris placed 99th individually with a time of 21.15.5.

As a freshman in the spring of 2021, Harris earned individual All-FRC honors with a third-place time of 58.42 in the JV boys 400m dash.

He also won a FRC title in the JV Boys 4x400m relay helping Noah Holtmeyer, Morgan and Guerrero run a first-place time of 4:06.36.

Running with Cameron O’Neal, Freddy Zheng and Morgan, Harris nearly earned All-District honors as a freshman after placing fifth in a time of 9:18.60 in the boys 4x800m relay at districts.

Only competing against athletes from Missouri throughout high school, Harris will now compete against athletes from Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, Arkansas and Missouri with Westminster as a member of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC).

SLIAC members along with Westminster include Blackburn College, Eureka College, Fontbonne University, Greenville University, Mississippi University for Women, Principia College, Spalding University and Webster University.
