Rita Marie Bonnot, 86, of Jefferson City,  passed away Friday, July 26, 2024, at Tipton Oak Manor.

She was born March 12, 1938, to Ferdinand (Fred) and Annie J. (Kremer) Backes in Frankenstein.

She was united in marriage to Charles Richard Bonnot, Nov. 30, 1957, in Frankenstein.

Rita was a graduate of Fatima High School. She attended Nichols Career Center where she earned her Licensed Practical Nurse degree in 1983. She worked at St. Mary’s Medical Center from 1983 until her retirement in 2006. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, where she volunteered and served on several committees throughout the years.

She was preceded in death by husband, Charles; sisters and brothers-in-law, Josephine (Bud) Dudenhoeffer, Florence (Al) Dudenhoeffer, Nelda Keilholz, Bernadine (Andy) Schulte, and Mary Agnes Backes.

She is survived by Jean (Jim) Lambirth, Carol (Ralph) Schaefer, Joan (Richard) Schaefer, DeAnne (Tim) Rickabaugh, Judy (Brian) Whitburn; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law Larry Keilholz.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, July 30, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. with Rev. Msgr. David D. Cox officiating. Burial was at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, St. Joseph’s Cathedral School, or to Masses for Rita and Charlie.
