Theresa Josephine Hilke, 87, Argyle, passed from this life Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at StoneBridge Senior Living - Westphalia, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Dec. 8, 1936, to the late Oscar Henry and Antonie Agnes (Dulle) Distler in Jefferson City.

She was united in marriage to Fred Sylvester Hilke June 9, 1956, in Jefferson City.

Theresa was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Argyle. She was a member of the Argyle Knights of Columbus Council No. 2047 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Saint Jude 4th degree Ladies Auxiliary, along with being the treasurer of the school board in Argyle and the Ladies Sodality in Argyle.

Theresa was a devoted housewife and homemaker who enjoyed gardening, baking, embroidery, playing cards, but most of all spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by husband, Fred; parents, Oscar and  Antonie; sisters, Mary Alice Edgar, Margaret Ann “Margie” Prenger and Rosemary Theresa Schulte; brothers, Paul Raymond Distler Sr. and Jerome E. “Jerry” Distler; brothers-in-law, Charles Everett “Brownie” Edgar Jr., Norbert Bernard Prenger and Francis Joseph Schulte; and sisters-in-law, Earline Pauline Distler, Norma Lea Distler and Patricia Ruth Distler.

Theresa is survived by sons, David Hilke and wife Renee and Donald Hilke and wife Debbie, all of Jefferson City and Doug Hilke and wife Robin of Argyle; daughters, Debra Rowe and husband Larry, of Iberia and Diane Luebbering and husband Tim, of Wardsville; grandchildren, Stephanie Butler and husband Michael, Cynthia Frevert and husband Tyler, Alex Hilke, Brent Rowe and wife Samantha, Trisha Backues and husband Connor, Mandi, Grant,  and Paige Luebbering; great-grandchildren, Eli, Everly, Norah, Palmer, Zoey, Kayden, Kameron, Jeremy and one more expected September 2024; brother, Vincent Distler of Jefferson City; and many other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, July 20, in the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Argyle with Rev. James Finder officiating along with Rev. Basil Tigga.

Interment was beside her loving husband in the St. Aloysius Cemetery in Argyle. Pallbearers were Brent Rowe, Grant Luebbering, Alex Hilke, Vincent Distler Jr., Ron Prenger and Charles Edgar Jr. Honorary Pallbearer was Wayne Distler.

Memorial contributions suggested to the family for Masses and the Knight of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Council No. 2047.
