Dutchgirl Soccer quartet earns postseason honors

Dutchgirl Soccer quartet earns postseason honors

Keep improving.

That was the goal all season for Zach Bollmann’s Owensville Dutchgirl soccer team.

Ending the year at 6-16, OHS beat their win total from the previous season by one.

For four Dutchgirl soccer players, their respective seasons ended with postseason recognition at the conference and district level.

Named to the All-Four Rivers Conference (FRC) second team for Owensville was junior Lily Reed on offense and senior McKenna Edwards on defense.

Garnering the top awards on the All-FRC were Union’s Mya Minor (Player of the Year), Union’s Sophia Helling (Offensive Player of the Year), Sullivan’s Dorie Richardson (Defensive Player of the Year) and Pacific’s Steve Smith (Coach of the Year).

All-FRC First Team selections included Helling, St. Clair’s Kadence Gardner, Pacific’s Lexi Clark, Pacific’s Abbey Hall, Union’s Jewelle Anderson, Union’s Mia Smith), Richardson, St. Clair’s Claire Merseal, Union’s Ava Eagan, Union’s Lucy Koenigsfeld and Union’s Ali Thwing.

Joining Reed and Edwards on the All-FRC Second Team were Pacific’s Taylor Snider, St. Clair’s Lucy Moore, Sullivan’s Cambria Pohlman, Sullivan’s Jada Adams, Pacific’s Rhyan Murphy, St. James’ Kenadee Smith, Pacific’s Lauryn Schwierjohn, Pacific’s Megan Langerbacher, Sullivan’s Hayli Venable and Sullivan’s Maria Schatzl.

Seeing their season end at the hands of eventual Class 2 runner up Helias after a 5-0 first-round loss during the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 2, District 4 Tournament, Bollmann’s Dutchgirls had three players named to their respective All-District teams.

Edwards was Owensville’s lone selection to the All-District First Team.

She was joined by Alaina Meyer (Helias), Brooke Yanskey (Helias), Jenna Roark (Helias), Mazie Patek (Helias), Sofie Dolittle (Helias), Josey Uhrig (Southern Boone), Ava Leininger (Southern Boone), Claire Pickett (Southern Boone), Lainie Scheer (Southern Boone), Adams (Sullivan), Molly Lohden (Sullivan), Richardson (Sullivan), Gardner (St. Clair), Merseal (St. Clair), Moore (St. Clair), Grace Larson (Osage), Aubrie Gonella (Osage), Hattie Meldrum (Blair Oaks), Mia Antweiler (Blair Oaks) and Smith (St. James).

Senior Anya Binkhoelter represented the Dutchgirls on the All-District Second Team.

She was joined on there by Emma Brown (Helias), Reagan Schmitz (Helias), Helene Neuenswander (Helias), Sadie Ahern (Southern Boone), Abby Bieghler (Southern Boone), Lillian Brooks (Southern Boone), Pohlman (Sullivan), Schatzl (Sullivan), Ashley Meek (St. Clair), Shea Daniels (St. Clair), Samantha Diebal (Osage), Mayson Davis (Blair Oaks) and Ava Snyder (St. James).

Junior Katie Loyd was Owensville’s lone selection on the All-District Honorable Mention squad.

Earning All-District Honorable Mention status along with Loyd were Maddie Larkin (Helias), Haley Womack (Helias), Jessica Brookshire (Southern Boone), Tessa Newman (Sullivan), Greta Bettinelli (St. Clair), London Wood (Osage), Brooke Lehmen (Blair Oaks) and Jillian Engelbrecht (St. James).

Owensville also ended their regular season with a 4-1 loss on the road at Laquey.

Laquey’s Lady Hornets advanced to the MSHSAA Class 1 Girls Soccer Championships where they placed fourth following a 2-0 loss to Saxony Lutheran in the third-place match.
