After playing under the Friday night lights for three seasons, 2024 Owensville High School (OHS) graduate Hayden Shoemaker will continue his athletic and academic pursuits as a member of the University of Missouri - Science and Technology (S&T) Miner football team beginning with the upcoming 2024-25 academic year.

In 26 games as a member of the Owensville Dutchmen football team, Shoemaker racked up 165 total tackles of which 110 were solo.

He also recorded 17 tackles-for-loss and five sacks during his junior season in the fall of 2022.

Recording 76 tackles (49 solo) during his senior season last fall, Shoemaker reached double digits in tackles during three games.

Helping Owensville knock off Eldon 35-31 on the road in week two, the future Miner had 13 total tackles of which 11 were solo.

Later in September during a week six showdown against Pacific, Shoemaker also had 13 total tackles (seven solo) during their 42-24 loss to the Indians.

Shoemaker’s other game with double-digit tackles came against Sullivan with 11 total tackles and a tackle-for-loss during their 28-7 loss to the Eagles.

Hayden’s other tackle-for-loss came against St. James during a 43-22 victory.

As a junior, Shoemaker posted 79 total tackles (54 solo) to go with 14 tackles-for-loss and five sacks.

Recording a season-high nine total tackles as a junior, Shoemaker posted those numbers against Warrenton, Pacific and Sullivan.

Of his 14 tackles-for-loss, he posted a career-high five during their 50-0 season-opening shutout of Cuba.

Shoemaker also record two tackles-for-loss in games against Eldon, Warrenton and St. James.

Earning a sack in nearly half the games during his junior season, Shoemaker recorded one sack in games against Cuba, Warrenton, St. James, Pacific and Westminster Christian Academy.

Also against Cuba, Shoemaker caused a fumble.

Seeing action in five games during Owensville’s 2021 district championship season, Shoemaker amassed a team-high four of his 10 total tackles as a sophomore in a 53-8 win over Cuba.

He also tallied three solo tackles and a tackle-for-loss during their 48-44 win over St. Clair that year.

Missouri S&T is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference and will compete against schools from Missouri, Illinois and Iowa on the gridiron.

Those football members schools include the University of Indianapolis, Truman State University, McKendree University, Quincy University, Southwest Baptist University, Upper Iowa University and William Jewell College.
