Another plaque on the wall at Owensville High School (OHS) above the entrance to the main gym.

That will be the case following another former OHS track and field athlete earning All-American honors in track at the college level.

2022 OHS graduate Kiera Finn recently finished up her sophomore season of college track at Mineral Area College (MAC) in Park Hills, Mo.

During the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships held May 9, Finn earned All-American honors with top-four finishes in three events in Utica, NY.

“Kiera really worked hard to become a good hurdler and used her endurance from Cross Country to combine the two for an excellent All-American finish in the Steeplechase at Nationals,” MAC head track and field coach Steven Davis said. “She was also a big reason that the 4x400m and 4x800m relays finished in second place at the meet, running outstanding splits on both of her legs.”

Early in the meet, Finn teamed up with Lady Cardinal teammates Riley Petsch, Janson King and Celeste Sansegraw to place second in the women’s 4x800-meter relay in a time of 10:33.40.

Capping the meet in the women’s 4x400m relay, the MAC team of Amaya Rique, Kaydence Gibson, Felicity Kester and Finn also earn All-American Honors with a second-place time of 4:17.61.

Earning All-American honors as a part of two relay teams, Finn added individual accolades in the 3,000m steeplechase.

Placing fourth in 13:41.65, Finn made herself a three-time NJCAA All-American in track and field.

“I feel like skipping out on cross country my first year hurt my times in track and I did not do how I wanted to do as a freshman,” Finn said. “To come back my second year and go to the national meet in cross country and track and become a three-time All-American was awesome.”

She will leave MAC as the school record holder in the 3000m steeplechase.

Nearly becoming a four-time All-American athlete, Finn also competed in New York in the 400-meter hurdles but finished 12th overall in a time of 1:19.65.

Competing in five outdoor meets throughout her sophomore season, Finn won the 3000m steeplechase at the Sycamore Open on April 27 in Terra Haute, Ind., with a winning time of 14:03.89.

During the Greenville University (GU) Select Meet at GU in Illinois on April 13, Finn posted a fifth-place time of 14:22.82 in the 3000m steeplechase while also competing in the women’s 4x400m relay placing 13th in 4:33.49.

One week earlier on April 6 at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Finn placed seventh in the women’s 400m hurdles with a time of 1:15.16.

In the 2024 Joey Haines Invitational at Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) in Cape Girardeau, Finn placed 22nd in the women’s 800m run with a time of 2:41.26.

Finn spent her freshman year of high school in Belle running for the Lady Tiger team in addition to her time at Bland Middle School on their track team.
